Afrika Tikkun Sports Day puts a smile on Spoor & Fisher's CSI

Corporate Social Investment (CSI) is a very formal term for something that works best when it has a human face. This has certainly been Spoor & Fisher’s experience in partnering with Afrika Tikkun – an organisation that works towards alleviating poverty by developing the competencies of children and young people in South African townships. CSI can also be a lot of fun - with the most recent Afrika Tikkun Sports Day providing the proof.

This is the third year running that Spoor & Fisher has had the privilege of sponsoring and participating in the Sports Day, which appropriately coincided with Mandela Day on 18 July 2015. Four Gauteng-based Afrika Tikkun community centres were involved, with over a thousand children aged between three and eighteen joining in the activities at the Bidvest Wanderers stadium. Pre-schoolers enjoyed the challenge of a mini-Olympics while primary and high-school children competed in a variety of sports events, including soccer and netball, for the honour of taking home the Youth Sports Day Trophy. A talent show was a new event on this year’s programme and proved to be a hit for participants and supporters alike.

Spoor & Fisher prides itself by giving back to the community and being hands on, in making a difference to the children of Afrika Tikkun and various corporate social responsibility events. A Setswana proverb “Motho ke motho ka batho” means that we coexist and are interdependent and that is the spirit and message that Spoor & Fisher conveys when it comes to participating in all our corporate social responsibility initiatives.
