Duties and Responsibilities

  • Managing the full finance function
  • Implementing and overseeing the adherence to business control policies and procedures 
  • Consolidating and interpreting budgets, forecasts and financial performance 
  • Developing and implementing cost optimisation strategies 
  • Assessing the accounting systems and controls 
  • Managing the budget process 
  • Preparation and review of management accounts
  • Income statement forecasting and cash flow forecasting 
  • Preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations 
  • Ensuring compliance with tax regulations, including reviewing tax computations, filing returns and forecasting for tax payments
  • Perform foreign currency revaluations in compliance with IFRS 
  • Managing the performance of the finance team members 
  • Ad-hoc tasks that may arise from time to time 
  • Management and extraction of key reports from the financial and other systems

Qualifications & Experience

  • A postgrad degree in Finance 
  • A CA(SA), CPA, CIMA or related qualification 
  • At least 10 years experience in the Finance department of a mid-sized firm 
  • 5-8 years people management experience 
  • Experience in a law firm or professional services firm will be advantageous

Knowledge, Skills and Personal Attributes

  • Proficiency in MS Excel 
  • A keen attention to detail 
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision 
  • A sense of urgency and deadline orientation 
  • Taking initiative and being pro-active 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving
