The Spoor & Fisher Adult Education Centre
Founded in 1994 and championed by Spoor & Fisher, the Spoor & Fisher Adult Education Centre exists to address one of the most pervasive legacies of apartheid: the lack of access to formal education.
At Spoor & Fisher we believe that literacy empowers people and gives them back their dignity. As such, our school is open to anyone who is illiterate.
We finance the entire Spoor & Fisher Adult Education Centre project, from teachers’ salaries and learner’s books to stationery and exam fees, as well as renting the premises. The bulk of our learners are domestic workers and gardeners, but no-one is turned away, and several young adults have also been assisted.
