Jeremy de Beer

Jeremy is a qualified Trade Marks Practitioner and an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa, with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Rhodes University, both of which he graduated cum laude. Jeremy is also a Fellow of the South African Institute of Intellectual Property Law (SAIIPL).
Jeremy works in the Trade Mark Merit team and specialises in intellectual property disputes, with a focus on trade mark litigation such as infringements, oppositions and cancellations, as well as copyright disputes, advertising complaints, online IP enforcement, company name objections, domain name disputes, passing off, and unlawful competition litigation. Jeremy also attends to trade mark prosecution work, advising clients on the registrability of their trade marks and registration strategies, assignments, and assisting clients with registering their trade marks and managing their trade mark portfolios in South Africa and various other jurisdictions around the world. Jeremy also assists with conducting due diligence investigations for commercial transactions involving IP.
Jeremy also has experience in competition law and is interested in the intersection between competition law and intellectual property law.
