The Budapest Treaty

According to a recent notification, the African Intellectual Property Organisation (OAPI) has filed a declaration under the Budapest Treaty on the International Recognition of the Deposit of Microorganisms for the Purposes of Patent Procedure (28 April 1977, amended 26 September 1980) – Budapest Notification No.354.

The Budapest Treaty eliminates the need to deposit micro-organisms in each country where patent protection is sought.
